Who is the best James Bond?» |
Daniel Craig...
Has created a whole new renaissance thing for me with blonde haired men. Yum. That scene in the latest Bond movie where he walks out of the water on the beach in the Bahamas...grrr. Excuse me, have to go take cold shower.
I'm in the minority, I know
But I hated the new Bond. Viscerally hated it. Not that he wasn't a good looking guy, but I thought the movie was excrutiating, mostly because he was completely emasculated (literally and figuratively) -- he didn't get himself out of a single scrape, and in fact, was constantly rescued by women. He would have been dead several times in the movie if women hadn't saved him. He even let M cow him, and the CIA save his backside when he lost at gambling. It just wasn't my Bond. My Bond is capable and always on top of things (literally and figuratively). I have to go with Pierce still as my favorite Bond, though Connery as the best.

Connery
I think that about sums it up
That hits it for me with Connery/Brosnan balance, though I think what I liked best about Brosnan, aside of his looks, was how women in his movies were very much his equals, and he had emotional depth without giving up his suave.
But you know, I remember sitting in our public library and reading the Ian Flemming books, and I loved Bond.
I'm glad I'm not alone in my traditionalist Bond view...
I thought I was pretty much the only one in existence who didn't like the new one, and I've honestly been flabbergasted he was so popular. Although I think he could have pulled it off (Craig) -- it's not him, not the actor, his opening scene was great -- but the movie itself sucked. Including the opening -- from the very opening of the movie (the credits/score), it just wasn't Bond.

Good point!
You know though...
I went to see The Bourne Ultimatum this past weekend, and it really made me think about something I'd heard on a review of the movie, which was that they were looking at Bourne as the new Bond -- maybe Bond has outlived his era? Maybe it's not worth recycling that character?
I don't know but I will say all three Bourne movies were fantastic, and I could easily see this character picking up where Bond leaves off...

Connery, without a doubt but
