Love summer food

Along with everything else summery, I could have checked everything on this list. I love it all. I love grilling every night, cold salads, fresh veggies and fruits, all of it. A pitcher of fozen margaritas, Mojitos, and just about everything at the NYS State Fair. :)

Summer food is so much fresher, lighter (well except for the fair) than winter, where it all gets heavier and more effort to fix. I love making new salads in summer, the other night I roasted some pears and put it together with some greens, candied walnuts, cold chicken, greens, and a mint-lemon vinaigrette and it was wonderful. We could do this same salad in the winter, true, but it tastes right in the summer...

It's just all good... Maybe we should share some more recipes!

Summer Drinks

I love my Pina Colada Slushes. They didn't come out so well this time-didn't freeze, mayhaps I used a bit too much Rum?? Hmmm...also didn't have my original recipe either. Try try again ;) What is your recipe for Mojitos. I tried one but it wasn't so greta. Love the fair food also. I miss the Fresh Turkey Sandwiches at the Dutchess County Fair.

Frozen Treats

The only time I can get real Italian water ice is in the summer. I love the stuff and try a different flavor each time I buy one. Every year I can't wait for summer to come just so I can get an Italian water ice. Mads:)

I love Italian Ice!

Haven't had it in a while, though. There used to be a place in the town where I grew up, and they made it in lemon and pistachio, and the pistaschio was to die for, but that block went to hell, and the store stopped making it, unfortunately.

Ice Melt

Sam, There is an Italian pizza place near me that sells it in 15 different flavors. If I didn't think it would melt on the 1 hour drive to your neck of the woods, I'd be happy to bring you some. Mads:)

Not the ice thing, necessarily, but the get together -- we should find a common spot and have lunch, would be fun. :)
