Way Too Fun
Hey everyone!!! Its so awesome to be back at the Cigars and hanging out with you all today. I'm so jazzed to share the fab-o news that September kicks off an awesomely fun Blaze series, DRESSED TO THRILL. This is a costume shop mixup, with the tagline: The best thing about dressing up is taking it off. Whew *fanning self* So you know its hot, right?

(See Sam and Karen's DTT covers for Caught in the Act and Hold on to the Nights on the sidebar!)

And with covers like these, you know its not only hot, its going to be GREAT!!! The stories are all tied together by a romantic and adorable clerk named Josie who works at a costume shop. Her story starts and ends each book and was so much fun to write. Well, to write, and to write WITH Sam, Karen and Lisa. We brainstormed and discussed everything from Josie's romance to her habit of mixing up costumes, and I'm just as excited for their stories as I am my own.
I hope you'll check out the Dressed to Thrill series- and for even more fun, if you're on Twitter, be sure to follow us starting next Monday at BlazeDTT for a new round-robin style story each month from now to December.
And in the meantime - tell me... What's YOUR favorite costume you've ever worn? Mine was the Bride of Frankenstein... complete with spray glue to make my hair stand up tall. It took a week of looking electrocuted before all that glue would wash out LOL.

College
I wore the same costume all 4 years in college. It was a dress and coat set that I bought at a charity clothes sale. They were gorgeous--obviously super high-quality stuff--but from the 60's so a little peculiar in color. There was a sleeveless A-line dress in rainbow striped silk shantung, fully lined so it was very comfy. The coat was the same cut and fabric but with the addition of enormous rhinestone buttons.
I wore my dress and coat combo with big sunglasses and called myself Jackie O. Most comfortable costume ever!
Cool Sophistication
What a great costume, Ellen!! I love how easy and comfy it sounds, and it had to be unique and gorgeous!!!
When I was in college, I
When I was in college, I visited this amazing vintage clothing shop and found a flapper dress that I fell in love with...layer upon layer of flirty, swingy fringe, paired with a feathered headband and a very cool pair of 20's-style pumps. I kept that outfit for years, until I finally handed it down to a favorite niece for her to wear to a costume party.
Hot
But the real question is... could you dance in it? LOL -that sounds like such an awesome costume, Karen. And the perfect dance and get wild on tabletops kind!!
Eek!
I'm not much for costumes, but I do remember spending a ton of time making one when I was in fifth or sixth grade. I added ruffles to an umbrella to make it parasol-like and did a sort of "Gibson girl" thing that year. As I recall, it was a TON of work! ;p Congrats on Feels Like the First Time, Tawny!! Can't wait to read all four stories!
WOW
I love the Gibson Girl style, Fedora so that had to be such a fun costume. Did you get pictures to remember all that work by? I hope so ;-)
and thanks- the four stories are SO fun!!!
My Strange Costume
I was very much a tomboy when I was a child and the one thing I really, really, really wanted to do was play little league baseball (something girls couldn't do back then) so one Halloween I decided to be dress up as a baseball player (no girly stuff for me!). I have to consider that as my favorite costume ever.
Home Run
What a fun - and rebellious - costume, Ellen. Love it :-) That is a bummer that you didn't get to play in it as well as trick or treat, though *g*
I just want to add that
I just want to add that Tawny's book is FABULOUS! You are in for a real treat, and as she said, if you read all four books in the mini-series, you get the added romance of the costume shop clerk.
Tawny, you rock!!!! And can anyone else see the physical resemblance between the heroine on her cover and Tawny?? She rocks, AND she's hot!
Blushing
Oh man, Karen, you're too sweet. I wish I looked like that *g*
I'm already getting emails asking about Josie (the costume shop clerk) so I know readers are having fun checking out her story - and I cannot WAIT to see it played out in the rest of the books. Its soooo fun!!!
Costume
When I was a lot younger I dressed up as Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. Back then I had the cleveage for it. I wore a long black wig too.
Love it!!
Elvira was soooo cool and sexy - what a GREAT costume, Linda :-) That had to be one fabulous Halloween *g*
Hmm favorite costumes huh?
Well i have two, one was the year my sister an i both dressed as she-devils. hers was blood red with a black stad up cape around her neck, mine was solid black, long tight and had a silver bat girl lookin belt. With heels, serious poofed hair and a ton of makeup done by yours truly we both had a ball playing the wicked sisters! lol
a couple years latger i wanted to do something totally different. So i found an heavy thermal nightgown that looked like a little girls, with a pouch in the front and doggies on the front. I wore shorts underneath it, and large fuzzy bear slippers. I also had a very large black bow in my blonde hair. It was the most comfy costume ever. no hose, and slippers. you cant go wrong there, unless whoever you danc with keeps stepping on the bears that growled when touched. lol
fun post.
can't wait to read your book Tawny.
jody
Great Costume!
Hey Jody, I love the comfy costume! It reminds me of the year I painted my face green, put my hair in rollers and wore my bathrobe while carrying a frying pan LOL. Nothing says comfy like slippers, right?!
And ooooooh baby, talk about hot!! That she-devil costume must have set things on fire, huh? GREAT costume idea.
lol
Well hee haw tawny, i remember her. That was an easy look to pull off, but of course you'd have to try very hard to look anything like her huh!
cute
LOL
ROFL, Jody - all I could thing was aahhhhh comfy. Then OMG how did women sleep with rollers in their hair?
My friends and I dressed up
My friends and I dressed up as the Art Rock band Devo. That was fun!
Whip It Good
Oh man, that had to be a FUN costume!!! Did you perform, too?
Kind of...we lip synched and
Kind of...we lip synched and had props. I was the girl with the headscarf and the cigarette holder in the video who gets whipped:P
Ahahahahahaha
Whipped, huh? LOL - that had to be such a fun gig. Did you video tape it? Thats the kind of thing thats so fun to watch years later, isn't it? :-D
