TGIF Switch...Welcome Sydney Croft!

Hi Everyone!

Sydney Croft’s newest book, Unleashing The Storm, comes out on February 26th, and we’re thrilled! (The ‘we’, btw, refers to the co-authors behind Sydney Croft – Larissa Ione and Stephanie Tyler.)

So, since we’ve got a theme going with the Ten Things meme with Larissa and Steph already, we figured we’d continue it for Sydney!

10 ways you know a book was written by Sydney Croft:

UNLEASHING_THE_STORM_300.jpg 1) There will be military and/or former military men involved. This, of course, is Steph's influence, who will never forget when Larissa said, all our heroes aren't going to be SEALs, are they? (As if something would be wrong with that anyway) – and Steph said, of course not. Some of them can be Delta Force. At which point, Larissa gave up trying to talk Steph out of that. And puts up with all Steph’s military questions, thanks to her and her husband’s extensive military background.

2) Sydney writes Erotica. Which means, there will be a lot of explicit sex that is completely organic to the story. We go by the definition of Erotica that you cannot take out the sex and still have the story work.

3) Larissa and Steph pay tribute to their pets, past and present, in the Sydney books.

4) All the parents in the ACRO universe seem to be of the soul-suckingly bad variety (phrase coined by Larissa as she pointed this out during our writing of UTS – in fact, it had something to do with Creed – the conversation went something like this:

L: What about Creed’s parents?

S: They’re dead.

L: No, I don’t think you killed them off.

S: Real live parents in the ACRO world – I don’t know what to do with them…

So yes, Creed has living, breathing parents who are normal! Well, as normal as ghost hunters can be…

5) While we may carry over subplots into other books, the main couple always always gets their happy ending…in that way, Syd’s books fall totally onto the side of erotic romance. Because, well, we love happy endings.

6) We love subplots. Lots of them.

7) Sydney Croft writes alpha men, strong women, and people with superhuman powers.

8) All Sydney books are connected through the Agency For Covert Rare Operatives, and even though some of the subplots carry through the first 3 books, they can be read out of order.

9) So far, all the books contain some form of water sex. We’re not sure why, but it appears to be an ongoing theme.

10) As both Larissa and Steph mention in their own posts about their own books, many of the Syd character names are different. Larissa claims her are uncommon and that Steph’s are weird, but she’s lying. (Larissa would like to offer up as evidence to the fact that she’s NOT lying: Trance, Hex, Ender, Coco, and Oz. See how NOT lying she is?)

Hey CrystalGB!

I think I probably read the least amount of historicals (and paras too, but that's because I tend to avoid what I write, especially when I'm in the middle of writing it) But whenever I do try a historical, I find I really enjoy it.

I forgot to mention before

I forgot to mention before that I'm a reader from Writeminded too!

Thanks so much for sharing the Sydney love :):):) And yes, that's what Larissa and I find to be so much fun about the Sydney stuff - because it's so true that we can pretty much have anything at all happen...

Hi!!

I'm also a member of the Writeminded Reader Group!

Wow, picking one is hard since I love to read!! Right now I am reading a contemporary romance that has an ex military alpha male in it and so far so good!! Ok, I'm going to pick one and I will say since I have only recently started reading paranormal and enjoyed everything I have read so far, that would be my pick for today!!

Hi Blanche! Oh, can you tell

Hi Blanche!

Oh, can you tell me the name of the book if you're really liking it? Because you know, all I have to hear is the word military and I'm all over it :)

Favorite sub-genres

I like paranormal and historical. But I will really read anything. As long as the book sound interesting I will read it. All that matters to me is escaping into a another world every once in a while.

Hi five by five - Escaping

Hi five by five -

Escaping into another world is awesome, isn't it? That's how I feel when I write, too...it's just wonderful :)

Paranormal!!

It is really hard to pick just one. I'm pretty open to all genres. But if I had to pick just one, paranormal is my all time favorite. And if there is a military man involved I am SO there! :P

Thanks for such a fun post today!

Hey fedora - OMG - the first

Hey fedora -

OMG - the first time Larissa mentioned to me that we have only soul-sucking bad Sydney parents I swear I laughed for an hour...it was SO funny, because, as she said, her parents are great and so are mine, so I'm not sure where the, let's kill all the parents, thing comes from.

I guess it's a good thing my parents don't read these books :)

Hmmm...latent grumpy

Hmmm...latent grumpy teenager issues, maybe? I am sure Freud would come up with some reason...LOL

My Favorite Sub-Genre

It seems alot of your favorite is paranormal. I haven't tried any paranormal romance yet. What you all recommend to read?

My favorite would be contemporary romance.

Some of my faves!

Sherrilyn Kenyon, J R Ward, Patricia Briggs, and Keri Arthur come to mind immediately as those are my favorites! But if you like more light-hearted try Katie MacAlister, MaryJanice Davidson or Lynsay Sands.

Favorite Genre

Steph and Larissa,

Put me in the drawing for this one! Love paranormal in every form. Discovered Jenna Black when I won one of her books over at Writeminded. Can't wait for the second Storm book and when will Larissa's Demonica be out! I absolutely loved the first Storm book. Yes, the sex is necessary to the plot, but the paranormal story stands on its' own. You ladies are great with the details.

Can't wait to find out what happens with Creed and Annika.

Hey AudreyJ! Jenna Black is

Hey AudreyJ!

Jenna Black is awesome - both as a person and an author! I'm so glad we could help you find her :)

And OMG - Larissa's first Demonica book is AWESOME! I know people probably think, oh she has to say that, but let me tell you something - I couldn't read her book all at once because I was so _completely_ filled with jealousy at how completely great it is...

I guess it's a good sign when you can tell your writing partner how completely jealous of her talent you are :)

And thanks for the Syd co,pliments! Creed and Annika have a nice part in UTS ;)

Aww, Audrey, thank you! And

Aww, Audrey, thank you! And Steph, you know how totally jealous I am of your writing.

Which is why it's a good thing we write together, because then I'm like, oh, this is so good...I'm glad it's going in a book I wrote! *g*
