You Know You're a Reality TV Junkie When...
You're addicted to a show called Farmer Wants a Wife on Wednesday nights, and watching a potential bachelorette being eliminated by sticking her hand up the rear end of a cow to see if it's pregnant or not. The non-pregnant cow is the one who sends the loser home.
Yeah, it's that gross. WHO thinks of that stuff? And WHY am I watching it?
Part of why I'm watching it is the farmer, Matt. He's really cute, in that gosh-darn boy-next-door way. He's well-mannered, gets embarrassed when the city girls get too forward or flirty, and actually blushes when they ask him things like if he wants to uh...four-letter word. He brings them flowers and takes them out on nice dates, walks them to the door...all gallant and sweet. He's got a little cowboy in him, too.
Yet he'll play a mean game of truth or dare. Which is pretty fun to watch :-).
So here I am, every Wednesday night, watching this show. And LOADS of other reality shows the rest of the week. I admit it, I'm addicted. Hooked on the reality, like everyone else.
So tell me -- what are your guilty pleasures? Are you as hooked as me, when the regular shows aren't on?
Shirley

No TV guilty pleasures...
here, although if I get obsessed, I Netflix something and watch until I'm up to date. My latest was The Wire, which also counted as "research" ;) as cops show up in my writing on a regular basis. But I don't like reality TV...I cringe when people embarrass themselves. We do watch Idol, but only because my husband really loves it.
Now, if we're talking chocolate...I've got lots of guilty pleasures there. ;)
OMG
Hmmmm... it's like Dirty Jobs meets The Bachelor. ;)
I just don't know... who does think up this stuff? And why do these city girls think they stand a chance of liking life on a farm? I'm not watching it, but I'm sorry -- I love cows, but I won't stick my arm up their backside, especially not to get a man's attention.
Well, maybe Mike Rowe... LOL
I love reality TV, but my current guilty pleasure is Ninja Warrior (G4 network, here channel 137) and it's wonderful -- I watched all ten years worth (twenty episodes, and then the women's competitions) and now I'm rewatching many of them -- they persist in being entertaining the second time around. The guys are great, many of them hot, hot and the obstacles are amazing -- the physical feats are really incredible. And then there's the Japanese narrator... he's a riot... Sa!!! The narrator says this all the time, and we do, too, LOL -- I need to take Japanese!

I rarely watch anything but
I rarely watch anything but sports on tv.
Have never watched a reality show.
My guilty pleasure is lots of new books.
Ohh--guilty pleasures. The
Ohh--guilty pleasures. The best kind! Some reality TV I do not consider guilty pleasures because they show talented people competing with one another--Top Chef, So You Think You Can Dance. Other shows...well, I've watched The Bachelor once or twice, and was actually rooting for certain contestants. And I've watched Extreme Dating and some other dating show that's usually fairly amusing. I cannot believe what some people do on television. Oy.
Not too much time for TV...
My TBR's way too big! ;) I can totally see getting sucked in and hooked if I were to start watching though--there's something very hard to pull away from on these shows! It's the drama and the competition and the possibility of humiliation and all sorts of very compelling watching :) But wow, Shirley, I'd never even heard of Farmer Needs a Wife! I can't wait to hear what they come up with next ;)
Reality TV
My summer guilty pleasure is America's Got Talent. It's starting this week. My entire family (DH, DS aged 16 and I) all get together and watch it together.
And in, the past, we used to watch RockStar.
I'm not big on Reality TV, or TV at all, but something about it being summer makes it all right. LOL

I love AGT!
I actually really enjoy this show -- I was so happy last year that the ventriloquist won! We have it on TiVo for this summer, too...
