Season of Wishes...

Tawny Weber's picture
One of the things I love best about the holidays is the way wishes seem to come true --Especially for the little ones. It's like magic. So, now that the presents are unwrapped, the leftovers eaten and everyone's thoughts shifting back to "normal" things... what kind of magic would you wish for? Let's say Santa left you a little bag of magic dust... just enough for one wish. What would it be? Keeping with the rules the Genie from Disney's Aladdin posted- no wishing for more wishes, no bringing anyone back from the dead and no love wishes - What would you spend your wish on? Writers --what would you want? Best seller lists? A smooth, easy writing process that stayed consistent? Hot covers? A contract? Readers - if you could have anything on your wish list, what would it be? Your fave authors producing more books each year? One night with your favorite fictional hero? A chance to live out one of the stories you love to read? C'mon and share - wishes rock... what're yours?

okay, I can't resist

I'm such a sucker for this kind of thing. I have to admit, I was thinking about this ever since Tawny mentioned it to me yesterday, LOL.

I definitely have a writerly wish, something I mention now and again to friends and family. I would wish to be successful enough to be able to write just one or two books a year and have that be enough. I could put all of my heart, soul, creativity, time and energy into just one or two stories a year, and be successful enough to live on the proceeds.

As much as I love writing category, it's a lot writing 3-4 books a year plus proposals, plus trying to do other things. I have envy of the writers who are famous enough to be able to really just work on one, maybe two (they're also famous enough that they get to say so) and readers wait for it and love it so much they don't mind the wait.

Hi all! I'm visiting after

Hi all! I'm visiting after having visited Samantha's site to see what i'm missin (her new Blaze and its an EXTREME, yeah!) Congrats Samantha! And hi too to Karen and Sarah, Jamie and Tawny! Hope i'm not missin anyone! I know that sometimes we wish for things and don't know if they can come true. But I'm gonna do it anyways, cuz it can come true in different ways. My wish was to be able to have less pain. With the joys I have now with reading and being able to have that help me forget about the pain (many thanks to you all!) that the doc's too will find more to help and too I find more ways! But too, to find some solutions to the medical billin mess. Thats a tough one. No I'm not cheating, they go together, LOL. So I'm gonna keep wishing! Hey I never knew love couldn't be in wishes! Why? Not that I don't have mine of 23 yrs :) Great again to visit here!

hey Cathie!

Happy New Year! I hope that wish comes true for you. I think wishes do have power, in the sense that if we really put our heart and souls into something, it can happen. I believe that.

I never saw the Disney version, but I assume there are no love wishes much for the same reasons love spells in other magical lore are considered dangerous -- a watch what you wish for kind of thing (anyone see the Buffy where Xander cast the love spell?) and also because we shouldn't rob someone of their free will and make them fall in love with us...

The ethics of magic. ;)

Thanks for stopping by my site -- I hope you enjoy the book!

One Wish

If I could only have one wish, it would be, to put together a book that I've been thinking of writing for awhile and, actually have it sell. It's a big wish, I know, but, if wishes could really come true, that would be mine. Have a great New Year everyone and, I hope all of your wishes come true this year. Mads

You can do it Mads! As Sam

You can do it Mads! As Sam mentioned: "If you put your heart and soul into it..." I believe that anything can happen as well. Write you heart out, you can do it. Dawn

Agreed!

It's simple -- all you have to do is write it. ;) One page at a time is all it takes. I think every author (maybe even more so after you've written for a while) feels like every book is like climbing a cliff. But you get there one step at a time. I've been working on a non-Blaze book that felt at points like I might never finish, but I pushed this week and finished it! When it was done (I'll still tinker and revise), it stills seems like a miracle to make it to the end each time, but it's just sitting down and writing... and writing... and writing.... ;>

Selling is always a different story, but you can't sell if you don't have any writing to get out there, and even if it doesn't sell, you have the satisfaction of having done it.

Go for it, Mads!

Sam

Many Thanks

Thanks for the encouragement, Dawn and Sam. After reading your posts, I started putting my ideas into an outline. With any luck I'll be able to come up with a good storyline and strong characters. Maybe in 2007 my wish will come true. Wish me luck and please keep your fingers crossed. Thanks again, Mads:)

wish

Wow! I saw the title and premise for today's blog and thought piece of cake.....until I realized I could only indulge in one wish. One?!!? What were you thinking? Why not three? Hello?! If we are going to use the rules of the Genie from Disney's Aladdin, let's at lease get the number of wishes. So, in the spirit of true Disney Magic...I am rebelling and making three wishes because quite frankly my dear....size does matter. 1) To be a success in my new business 2) To be as clairvoyant in real life as I am as a reader. This means I would love to know what every other character in my life is thinking/feeling....just for a day or two. 3) To have the hot physical relationship of a romance heroine at least once.....(this of course includes the awesome figure to go with the err...hot sex!) Thank you for the wish(es). I had been very stressed this morning.....now I am at least smiling. Have a super weekend! Debbie

2 Wishes

I'll make 2 (yes, I think I'm breaking the rules, too). Outside of the health and happiness of my family, my personal ones would be: 1. A self-cleaning and decluttering house. 2. All the words in my head magically make itself onto the page.

I just have one wish - to be

I just have one wish - to be able to read whichever book I want, as many books as I want, anytime I want, as long as I want to, without any consequences of any kind. What can I say - I'm a total bookworm :-) Happy New Year!

I'll think small LOL --

I'll think small LOL -- enough gift cards to bookstores for all the books I want to get for the next year. :) Lois

Exploding Cigar

What would I wish for? As a writer to have my abilities improve, and to have my imagination come alive on the pages...I want to entertain people with a story, and if it gets published and does well in the market, then I'll take that too.
