Television Meme
I had NO idea what to blog about today, so I did what desperate bloggers do when they can't think of a topic -- I looked for a meme. And, as I love TV, and love talking about TV, I went to my friend Google and searched for a TV Meme, and found this one at the blog, A Little Girl Talk. I amended #9 slightly, and added 24 & 25, because I just thought ending at 23 questions was, in a Monk-like way, uncomfortable. *G* Feel free to jump in with comments and your own additions.
1. Name a TV show series in which you have seen every episode at least twice: BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER
2. Name a show you can’t miss: BURN NOTICE
3. Name an actor that would make you more inclined to watch a show: Jeff Donovan (Burn Notice) or Enrico Colantoni (VERONICA MARS, and now FLASHPOINT, which I did watch because of him)
4. Name an actor who would make you less likely to watch a show: Leslie Anne Warren -- she was the most annoying character possible on DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, and again on IN PLAIN SIGHT.
5. Name a show you can, and do, quote from: BUFFY.
6. Name a show you like that no one else enjoys: THE PRETENDER -- Lots of people like it, Mike, not so much -- and I have three seasons of DVDs to get through. He'll watch it from time to time, but it's often arm-twisting or desperation. ;)
7. Name a TV show which you’ve been known to sing the theme song: FIREFLY (Thanks, now it will be in my head all day long)
8. Name a show you would recommend everyone to watch: BURN NOTICE

Those are my answers -- what are yours?

One more addition
A canceled show I wish would come back -- MY OWN WORST ENEMY.
I'll be bitter about this one being canceled for a while...
Sam
In way over my head...
I not only didn't know what a meme was (is), but I got stumped at the first question. Clearly, I need to be watching more TV....
Old School
You also need to spend more time online. That's how I know what a meme is.
You can also
be online watching TV shows now LOL
Just had to add that...
Sam
Oh, and because unlike Diana
I watch a lot of TV, the answers just keep kicking me in the head...
Another actor I follow is Rob Morrow (and another TV Series I want to own is Northern Exposure...but it's a pricey series, so it's been sitting on my Amazon wishlist for some time now, LOL). I just love him -- I probably wouldn't have watched Numb3rs (well, maybe, I don't know...) if I hadn't followed him to it.
Sam
Dee's Meme
1. Name a TV show series in which you have seen every episode at least twice: THE PRETENDER (Actually, I was wildly addicted to that show for three years and almost broke limbs to see the tv movie. Still wish I knew where all would have gone.)
2. Name a show you can’t miss: Does the fact that my girls sing the NFL theme music mean anything? LOL, well, no, a show...Grey's Anatomy. I never miss.
3. Name an actor that would make you more inclined to watch a show: Joe Pantalone. I'll watch anything with him. Also, Steve Zahn. I watched Stuart Little 2 because of him.
4. Name an actor who would make you less likely to watch a show: That chick who plays the agent on Eleventh Hour. Ugh.
5. Name a show you can, and do, quote from: FRIENDS.
6. Name a show you like that no one else enjoys: Again...NFL. Also, no one out here likes LOST, but I'm watching. (Well, recording, haven't seen season opener yet!)
7. Name a TV show which you’ve been known to sing the theme song: Well, CHEERS, obviously.
8. Name a show you would recommend everyone to watch: LIE TO ME, I was deeply impressed.
9. Name TV series that you own: COWBOY BEEBOP, another I would recommend, lol.
10. Name an actor who launched his/her entertainment career in another medium, but has surprised you with his/her acting choices in television: That kid who played Iceman/Bobby in XMEN series, then became Jimmy Olsen in Smallville. Thankfully, I stopped watching that show years ago and I don't have to see it.
11. What is your favorite episode of your favorite series? The two Hodges Episodes on CSI, Lucky Day and the Game. Just loved those. (When are they putting him with Mindy already??)
12. Name a show you keep meaning to watch, but you just haven’t gotten around to yet: I was gonna watch SUPERSTARS OF DANCE, but eventually deleted it when I got too far behind. The other is probably "The Office"
13. Ever quit watching a show because it was so bad? SMALLVILLE, GILMORE GIRLS
14. Name a show that’s made you cry multiple times: Oh, GREY'S ANATOMY has gotten me lots--esp when I was pregnant and they had that preggy lady fall in the shower. I finally bought a bath mat because of that show.
15. What do you eat when you watch TV? Generally dinner.
16. How often do you watch TV? Most nights, often with laptop on hand to work or write.
17. What’s the last TV show you watched? GREY'S, last night
18. What’s your favourite/preferred genre of TV? Well Written, I guess. I like comedies, dramas the occasional cop drama.
19. What was the first TV show you were obsessed with? KUNG FU THEATRE
20. What TV show do you wish you never watched? That time I flipped onto Guiding Light and discovered they'd killed off Vicky McKinnon. And then killed off her husband, Jake, leaving their 4 children parentless. After I'd been following their love story on Another World since 1983. Ruined all my illusions of their happy ending.
21. What’s the weirdest show you enjoyed? (edited for better answer) -- The Japanese Game Show that was part Ad--giving you the history of a cooking item & manufacturing history--and part show, where the chefs had to cook with it and a team of celebrities each, then compete for who's food was better. It was an excellent show I was sure I'd be bored stiff by.
22. What TV show scared you the most? This show on NBC that got canceled after like three episodes, about a team of psychic investigators who infiltrate people's dreams to solve crimes. First episode introduced a "clown" in a boy's nightmares that turned out to be the devil. Creepy as *BLEEP*! I still have nightmares of that scene.
23. What is the funniest TV show you have ever watched? For consistency, I have to go with Friends. No, wait, it was just that funny.
24. New TV shows worth watching: LIE TO ME--I really liked that one. Are there others?
25: Genre of show you never or rarely watch: Game shows. Just, don't seem to anymore.
Oh, and PS--Thank you for adding two. I love 25 as a number, though 24 is even and is nice too. 23 would have had me twitchy for a bit.
MMMMWAH!
Dee
Hey

11. What is your favorite episode of your favorite series? I like the one where Laura and Albert first meet each other. 25: Genre of show you never or rarely watch: Fishing shows. I just don't get the allure. Ha.
How fun
Oh so many triggers for me here in your answers!
Yes, love "I Only Have Eyes For You" -- you're right, that was an amazing epi. And who doesn't love "Once More With Feeling?" I know all the songs (Okay, I have the DVD and played it almost nonstop when I drove up to Toronto year before last...)
Loved Little House on the Prairie when I was a kid -- also all the westerns, Bonanza, Big Valley, etc. (No wonder I am a TV addict, I was then, I am now -- but it didn't stop me from getting my graduate degrees or writing novels, so I guess I'm okay LOL)
LOVE the revised question! Let's replace it with: Name a TV Character You're Ashamed To Admit You Had a Crush On: Gopher from the Love Boat.
Hmmmm... for me... wait, I don't think I have ever been ashamed of having a crush... hmmmmm....but I might say Eddie's father! (Bill Bixby, LOL). I loved him when I was a kid... the heck with Eddie... Obviously, I was a huge Hulk fan then, too.
Also Star Trek, the original. I am a purist. ;)
Also Cheers, Seinfeld, Friends, and my current favorite comedy, New Adventures of Old Christine... hysterical...and the show that broke "the Seinfeld curse."
I didn't care for Pushing Up Daisies -- the narration got on my nerves really quick.
And how could I forget CHUCK? We are completely addicted to that show.
LOST, I have watched, and have the DVD for the first two seasons, but they really started to lose me last season, and we did watch it the other night, but I find myself getting up and leaving the room a lot... I think you can only string that kind of story out so far before it's like "yeah, okay, we know it's John, just show him already..."
Of course, I am a huge Survivor fan. Also like The Amazing Race.
Oh, and Fantasy Island. Lost Ricardo recently, but what a guy -- that was a fantastic show. LOVED it.
Sam
Ah, Bill Bixby...
I STILL love that man. In fact, I realized a while back that my deep attraction to Hugh Jackman is, I think, because if you look at him, he has an extreme resemblance to Bixby.
Oh, crap, I totally forgot about Chuck! (I'm in Winter Hiatus denial)
You know, another show I won't miss is "The Closer". DYING for the season opener next week!
Yes...
Brenda is one of my favorite heroines ever... The Closer is a definite...
Sam
Buffy
Ohh, Once More With Feeling was awesome. One of the few CDs I sing out loud to. During the family trip last summer, when it was time to wake up, we'd ambush my dh, pop the CD he bought me for Christmas the year it came out and sing. 3 girls, top of our lungs, poor man. I can see the entire episode playing in my mind as we listen to it. :)
Oh man, how can you forget Chuck? LOL
Who mentioned winter hiatus? All this hopping around with shows since Fox changed theirs around, added to the breaks and the writer's strike (which I supported) is really making it difficult to see shows regularly and stay up with what's happening.

Sam
LA Law
Hail to the Redskins!
LA Law was the show with Susan Dey and Harry Hamlin. I watched a few episodes and enjoyed it. I worked 7-3 in those days, and didn't stay up past 10PM. Needed my sleep. I enjoyed The Pretender when it was on. I really miss that show. Then to find out the gal chasing him -- Parker was his sister. Scary.
Oh--Sam, congrats on your new three book contract from Blaze! Will this be another series like Hot Wires? Or just three stand alone books. Doesn't matter to me, I'm just curious.
LA Law, yes
Thank you! Hate it when I blank like that! :)
Thanks for the contracts, I'm pretty happy, too. The contract is for three stand-alones. One is a two-fer Bedtime Stories with Kim Raye (one story by each of us in one book), and another is a fun, fantasy type story about a woman who runs a bakery where she sells cookies with erotically charged icing -- and her best friend is the nerd genius/scientist who created the formula -- you can imagine what happens when they both eat too many cookies!
And then there is what they call a "blind" book, a contract for a book I just have to come up with something for, but I already have an idea. :)
It should be fun!
Sam
Can't wait!
Hail to the Redskins!
The story about the baker sounds like a fun story. I'll probably be craving cookies when I'm done reading it. LOL.
Enjoyed the meme and getting to know the fans and the authors. Don't be afraid to do more if you ever get bloggers block (is there such a thing?) again.
