Live, From RWA...

Samantha Hunter's picture
Or, almost live. Closer to dead tired having started the day officially at 4am, but since I didn't sleep that night, thinking about everything, I'm afraid to count how many hours I have gone without sleep now - however, I persevere, here to share some pictures from my first day at my first RWA conf -- oh, and my new cover for my Oct book. :)
mjbear_0.jpg Flying in, etc was easy -- enjoyable even. Facing the conference hotel was daunting, but Jeannie Watt found me and saved me. and I had a nice, relaxed lunch with Jeannie and her amazing daughter Jamie. We stopped at this bear to take some pictures. It was the perfect way to ease into things.
books.jpg Then, retreated to my room to rest, and came back out in pink to go to the lit signing -- had a blast. Jodie G and Nini from eHarl, That Brunette (Victoria, who gave me this cute bag), a few of Karen Foley's pals from the Moody Muses came by, and I grabbed a few books from friends. Loved meeting Chris Green, Natale Stenzel, Ellen Hartman and Diana Holquist (I appear to be accumulating beautiful, blonde photogenic friends).

ChrisGreen.jpg I don't have a picture of Natale, but will tomorrow. :). Damn, I need a picture of Diana, too... must go hunting.
ellencandace.jpg Here is a nice picture of Ellen and Candace Havens at the signing Must also meet Kim Van Meter tomorrow.
supers.jpg Finally, there was the Superromance party, with tiaras, chocolates, and amazing tote bag giveaways --met Kay Stockham, who is so sweet and really gorgeous, Abby Gaines, Amy Knupp, Cindi Myers, and saw Jeannie and Jamie again, met some new folks, saw Shirley and her gorgeous shoes, which she wears beautifully, and my pal Cara Summers who attended with Kathy Shay. All in all a very nice time-- also met the exuberant Holly and Susan, and also need pictures... Love all of them -- really terrific people. :)Also a picture of Jodie G (lower left in the middle).
superparty.jpg
caught_in_the_act.jpg Gawd, I am tired. Must crash, so will end with this peek at my Oct cover... now for pre-sale at amazon (the whole book, not just the cover... heh).
Sam

Hey!!!!

What am I, chopped liver?? Just my name mentioned. Nothing about me climbing on chairs and shushing an entire room. lol.

(sigh)

I'm going to be despondent all day now. (g)
On a serious note, so glad to finally meet you in person last night, Sam, and we simply MUST get some pics together today. Or tomorrow. Before conference ENDS, anyway. lol.)

And yes, Jeannie's daughter is a great young lady!

Love the new cover.

Chopped liver? Hardly!

I was completely impressed by your ability to project that voice and get all of our attention!

And yes, I will be hunting pictures with you, & Holly, too!

Sam

Susan--That was without a

Susan--That was without a doubt the most masterful shushing I have ever witnessed!

Jeannie

Must be a lot of fun !!

Thanks for the picture and the nice glimpse at RWA (if that makes any sence in english).
Have fun !!
Be back tomorrow for more pics (I know I know I'm pushy !!LOL)

Hi Sam!!

Not sure what's going on with the formatting
of this post. Funky stuff. ANYWAY...looks like
you are having a great time and I love the
pictures and your new cover is gorgeous!!

Crap

Something with the graphics program I have is wonky...I thought Mike was going to fix. Will call him asap -- thanks!

Sam

too many pictures

Eh, Mike says too many pictures. He'll fix somehow when he has a chance, and from now on I'll post pictures in a separate post so they just line up, and do text separately -- sorry about that, folks..

gotta run -- Blaze lunch and workshops and dinner with Natale Stenzel later, and must go Susan and
Holly-hunting...

Sam

I have a name! :-)

It was nifty meeting you last night! I was a bit flustered because it was so overwhelming and loud. I don't know how you sat so calmly all night.

For those who were not there, I had to circle back a few times before I could get Samantha alone.

me? calm?

I think that was the coma setting in... LOL

Was so fun meeting you, too! And I will NOT ever get your name wrong again! Thanks for being such a good sport, and for the pretty bag!

sam

so cool to meet you!

Tried to add my photos this morning too but the blog hated me and wouldn't let me add images, sob, sob. But it was so cool to see you all and finally meet you, Sam!!!!!!!

Last nite...

'Twas great to meet everyone! I had such a blast at the signing and the party. I'm wearing my crown right now, hoping it will help me finish my story. I feel the power of greatness coming through. And yes, though it's pink, and i'm wearing a blue shirt, it still works!

Speaking of which, off to work. I have a story that needs to be sent to an editor!

Nini :)

Natale Stenzel

I remember the RWA conference where Natale sold her first book! If I recall correctly, the editor had decided to keep the fact a secret until the conference, and then told her in person. I also remember she spent a lot of time barefoot...new shoes and all that. It was a very inspirational and motivating moment for me, as an aspiring author, to hear Natale's story and see her wear that pink ribbon!

Thanks!

Thanks for the awesome photos, Sam! Glad you're all having fun! And love the October cover!

Jeannie here

I had the best time meeting Sam. It was like we'd always known each other--perhaps because we have for over a year, just not face to face. I am currently in my room since the class I wanted to attend was full to overflowing (note to self--stop messing around in the book-selling room and get to class!) I may just fall asleep.....

RWA

Hail to the Redskins!

Sounds like a great time! Enjoy!

wow!

On that cover!
The pics are awesome!! I guess I thought everyone had already met before! LOL.
Ellen is adorable in her tiara.

Thanks Sam for 'bringing' us with you by giving us pics.

You got your cover...

and it's beautiful! :) Glad you're having such a fun time, Sam, and look forward to more pictures and details on your exploits. Looks like the booksigning was a rip-roaring success, too!

It was great meeting you in person! Are you wearing your new tattoo??

Thanks for the pictures

hope you get to meet all the people you want to.

Thanks for sharing

Sam, thank you for sharing with all of us. It looks like you are having a great time, even if you are a bit tired. The pictures are great, and that book cover and title look so good. I can't wait to read it. Have fun, and a safe trip home.
