Big Blog Switch... Welcome Larissa Ione!
10 Things About Larissa Ione Books:
1. Animals can often be found.
2. You will not find hide nor hair of a secret baby. Actually, you probably won’t find any children at all.
3. The characters’ names will probably be uncommon.
4. Generally, I write one point-of-view per scene, but my books will contain multiple POV characters and probably multiple storylines.
5. My characters’ parents are usually dead, horrible, or both. No idea why I do that to my poor characters, since I have great parents.
6. Someone(s) in the book, probably the hero or heroine, will have some sort of medical and/or military background.
7. My characters will have a fondness for coffee and beer. Don’t know where that comes from…
8. Item number 7 brings me to this; you will find humor in my books, but it will be of the sarcastic/dry variety. Who the heck said that sarcasm is the lowest form of humor? Because yeah, the Three Stooges scream class.
9. Nine times of out ten, a Larissa Ione story will start out in the hero’s point-of-view. But it will end in the heroine’s. Of course, there are always exceptions, and it looks like my second Demonica novel, Shadow Lover, will end in the hero’s POV.
10. There will be sex. Lots of sex.
Just so you know, all of the above applies to Sydney Croft stories, as well. I think it’s because Stephanie and I are so alike in how we write. Which is probably why we write so well together! *g*
Now, if any of the above appeals to you, I will offer up your choice of one of my books as a prize. Here’s what’s available:
Secrets Volume 18 (Red Sage) – My story, Flesh To Fantasy, is about a reclusive video game beta tester/reviewer and a hot paramedic who wants to teach her to have her fun in the real world instead of the virtual one. Erotic.
Secrets Volume 21 (Red Sage) – Wet Dreams stars an ex-paramedic heroine who is just launching her sport-fishing boat business, when an injured DHS agent boards her boat and suddenly they find themselves on the run and in the middle of the ocean. Erotic.
Snowbound (Samhain) – The story of an ex-Olympic skier turned ski-patroller who is ready to end his celibacy with the right woman. The woman he wants is Robyn, who has come back to her hometown to face her past, and naturally, she wants nothing to do with the sexy patroller. Steamy – heat level similar to a Harlequin Temptation or Blaze.
Riding The Storm (Bantam Dell) – A man who can control the weather meets a meteorologist who has been sent by her paranormal agency to nab him before the bad guys get him. What she doesn’t expect is to fall in love with him and then have to betray him. Erotic.
To enter to win, just comment on this post. Say anything you want, or maybe tell me…what color hair does your favorite hero have? Because I forgot to mention, I tend to write the dark-haired variety! J Remember, you have to register on the Cigars blog to enter. Winners will be announced tonight in the comments.
Hi!
Oh, I love dark-haired heroes...dark brown hair, to be specific. I also love Top Ten lists - thanks for sharing!
Margaret
Thanks for playing,
Thanks for playing, Margaret! Love the dark-haired heroes too!
I love dark-haired heroes, too...
I've just never had a thing for blonds... I love the cover of Snowbound, too. :)
LOL on the family thing. I've had more or less happy families in my books, I think, though maybe with normal problems, but I do love to provide the nasty EX -- there are often really awful, nasty, rotten ex's in my characters' pasts.... they say write what you know, bwahahahaha.
Sam
ROFL! I have a couple of
ROFL! I have a couple of those rotten ex's in my stories, too!
I like books with dark
I like books with dark haired heros who have a military or medical background. I haven't read any of your books but the next time I'm at the book store I'll pick one up and read it.

I'm with you, Ashley. Mmm...can't wait for Ash's book!
Hi Larissa!
I do like the dark haired heroes the best. I always think mysterious when the hero is darker.
It does seem that way,
It does seem that way, doesn't it, Maureen? I don't mind a blond hero now an then, but I like it in paranormals, with longer hair. I'm writing a longer-haired blond hero right now in my third Demonica novel, in fact!
Dark-haired alpha male wanted!
Yes, I like the dark-haired variety best, but I like the fair-haired guys too. I love your list. I definitely agree that sarcasm and dry humor makes me laugh far more than the more overt humor. The person who said "Sarcasm is the lowest form of humor" obviously never saw Carrot Top perform, but whatever. :)
That's the kind of humor I
That's the kind of humor I like best in books, too! I'm not overly fond of more slapstick comedy, though I have read some good funny books that surprised me!
I love dark haired men,
I love dark haired men, point in case, my husband. He is a dark hair god (in my eyes), who drips sarcasm. One of the reasons I fell in love with him is his smart mouth. He is my hero all the way, so in a book I like it when the heros have some of the same qualities that he does.
Rebekah
Aww...that's so sweet!
Aww...that's so sweet! That's pretty much how I picked out my husband, as well -- dark haired and some nice, sarcastic humor!
Me too
I love dark-haired heroes too! In fact, I'm trying to force myself to have a lighter-haired hero next and I'm just not feeling it. He seems...surferish.
LOL--this is the one thing
LOL--this is the one thing Steph and I differ on when it comes to our heroes -- she likes to write the blondes, and I'm always like, ANOTHER blond???? *g*
Love blond heroes. Love

And hey, I compromised with Ender - his hair is DARK blond...

I prefer and love dark hair heroes. I think they're much sexier. :)

Hello
I love dark haired heros. you know tall dark and very good looking. The bad boy type. Snow Bound looks like a wonderful book,so sexy. I would love to read it.
Thank you! Funny though,
Thank you! Funny though, because the hero in Snowbound is one of my few blond heroes. Well, he's got light brown hair that's sun-streaked blond!
Hi!
Dark haired heroes, definitely.
Yum! :)
Yum! :)
Only dark heroes, thanks!!
I love dark, gorgeous alpha males..
Your list was so great, I'd love to read your books!
Thank you, embla! I had fun
Thank you, embla! I had fun with the list!
Tall and Dark
Hi Larissa,
I'm also a lover of the tall, dark and handsome type. I'm not adverse to blonde heroes, but maybe a dark haired hero is more apt to be the brooding type that we love.
Mmm...I love a brooding
Mmm...I love a brooding hero! Love the tall, dark, brooding alphas. They just can't be beat!
I like reading the POV for
I like reading the POV for both H/h, and tend to prefer the heroes with dark hero, more on the rugged side.
Rugged is good! :) Every
Rugged is good! :) Every once in a while I don't mind a less rugged hero though -- I've read some really hot businessmen! *g*
I love dark hair.
I love dark hair. Especially black hair.
I do like black hair -- you
I do like black hair -- you don't see it that often, though. :(
Welcome!
Welcome to Cigars; what a fun week we're going to have! Great cover, BTW. I have to say if the hero has a medical background, especially emergency medicine like an EMT or an Army medic, then I'm a sucker for him. And a military background? Oh, yeah... I also prefer a hero with dark hair versus fair hair. And lots of sex is always welcome!
BTW...is that a mouse running over your bare toes in the photo over at the Write Minded blog? You're so brave!!
Karen, for some reason I
Karen, for some reason I write a lot of EMTs/paramedics, and I do have an Army medic playing a big role in my upcoming GCP paranormals. I LOVE military medics. AF Pararescue...too yummy!
And yes, that's a mouse! Her name was Hista. I had three mice that I bottle fed from deaf, blind, pinkies after I rescued them from a hungry lizard. I named them after roden-borne diseases -- Hista (histaplasmosis,) Hanta, (hantavirus,) and Buboe (Bubonic plague.) How fun is that? LOL
Love Dark Haired Heroes
I love dark haired heroes. My favorites are black or dark brown hair.
You know, when the hero has
You know, when the hero has black hair, I really love it if he's paired with very tan skin...maybe of Middle Eastern, exotic looks. Yum!
I love dark haired heroes. I
I love dark haired heroes. I have read Riding The Storm and enjoyed it immensely.
Thank you, Estella! Glad you
Thank you, Estella! Glad you enjoyed it! Steph and I had so much fun with that book.
Dark
I tend to like dark haired heroes, but in real life I tend to go for the blonds
Lissy, for some reason I
Lissy, for some reason I loved blonds when I was younger. I still appreciate them...LOVE Legolas, for example. Okay, so he's an elf, but he's a damned hot elf! *g*
I just like that the men are
I just like that the men are hot, hot, hot!, and the sex is hot, hot, hot!
Ditto! :)
Ditto! :)
Waving hello!!! I LOVED that
Waving hello!!!
I LOVED that list! Number 9 intrigued me...is that intentional or just something you noticed looking back at your books? Did that make sense? In other words, did you always intend for the POVs to be that way?
I see some books on there that I missed so I will have to rectify that soon!
As for hair color, I am not picky, but I notice I sometimes tend to favor dark-haired heroes.
Dark Haired Heroes
You got me thinking about the heroes in my latest reads and just how many of them are dark haired! Loved your characters in Riding the Storm and can't wait for the next book.
Thank you, Cathy! I hope you
Thank you, Cathy! I hope you enjoy Unleashing The Storm. It's a very special book for both me and Stephanie, and it was just so fun to write!
*waving back* Hi
*waving back* Hi Jennifer!!
Hmmm... you know, the POV thing isn't intentional, at least not on a conscious level. I only recently noticed it. I think I subconsciously tend to start off books in the hero's POV because I've noticed that the books I get into the quickest and love the most also start out in the male POV. My stories are just very hero-centric, for the most part. The exception to that is Flesh To Fantasy, in Secrets Vol. 18, and Snowbound. Though Snowbound originally did start out in the hero's POV, but it just wouldn't work because of the setup.
That's cool! Those are
That's cool! Those are actually the two I am missing...LOL
Dark haired men and dead parents
I'm a writer, too...and I also suffer a weakness for darker men. My next hero may be blond, but he may also be a redhead (think Eric Stoltz in the 80s, his prime hotness days IMO)
Dead (or horrible) parents are the stuff good fiction is made of. In my current WIP, the hero's parents are dead and he was raised by his grandmother. So yeah, parents definitely face hostile territory in my books!
Lovin' this blog switch! :)
Cari
Cari, this blog switch has
Cari, this blog switch has been fun. I can't wait to see what the rest of the week brings!
Good luck with your redheaded hero -- you don't see those very often, so he'll stand out!
