What’s So Special About Witches?
First off, thank you so much ladies, for having me here and giving me a chance to talk about my latest book, Wicked By Any Other Name.
I get asked a lot why I chose witches for my Hex series.
Easy, they chose me.
I know what you’re saying. “Hm, that woman needs serious medication!” Although, I hope you’re really saying “I’m so glad she listened to them!”
From the beginning I knew my witches would have been out in the world for over 700 years, that each would have a distinct personality, a different magickal gift, and would be thrown into a wild situation. I also knew there would be some interesting creatures along the way. After all, how many people have mischievous bunny slippers or a gargoyle that may be a pervert, but there’s still something lovable about him.
With Jazz you met a sassy snarky witch who dealt with life head on.
But now it’s Stasi’s turn. She’s my sweet witch. The one who’d show up on your doorstep with cookies or muffins and a handy shoulder, while Jazz would offer up an alibi and a handful of witchflame.
Stasi loves romance. She wants every woman to find her soul mate and promotes romance in her lingerie boutique. Except that goes wrong when a human local resident sues her in Wizards Court because of a wrongfully hexed sachet and wizard attorney Trev Barnes shows up … with red hearts over his head that also appear over Stasi’s head. Cupid’s warped sense of humor shows up at the oddest times.
You’d think that would be enough trouble in Stasi’s life, but I wasn’t about to do that. So I threw in the lake in her town of Moonstone Lake being harmed by olde magick, Samhain hit with Mercury Retrograde, a lunar eclipse and a sense of fear running through the small mountain town that uncomfortably reminds Stasi of the time she lived in Olde Salem during the Witch Trials. And did I mention the town is also snowed in and the power is out?
And oh, there is that sexy wizard who’s in pursuit of the cute witch who is now snarling “No More Ms. Nice Witch!”
Stasi’s smart enough to know she can’t handle it all on her own, so with fellow witches Blair and Jazz helping her along with Trev and Jazz’s vampiremuffin Nick doing their share too.
But in the end it’s the witches who prevail. Who do what it takes.
And that’s why when my witches talk, I listen. They come up with the most fun ideas and while some I have to say “no reader will believe that happened to you!” I do take most of their tales.
After all, they are witches and they seem to know best.
My Hex series has been optioned for film or TV and I’d love to see them on either screen. And if you’ve read 50 Ways to Hex Your Lover and Hex Appeal I hope you enjoy Stasi in Wicked By Any Other Name just as much and look for Hex in High Heels coming out this October.

Welcome Linda!
So happy to have you come by to chat -- I love your take on witches. I think people are really gravitating to fun, happy stories right now, and I would love to see your books show up on TV! It's been a long while since there has been a good witchy TV show.
These books sound like a ton of fun, and I like the covers. There's something in the graphics, and the way you discuss them, that makes me think of shows like Bewitched, and even I Dream of Jeannie, though that wasn't a witch.
Looking forward to a fun discussion about witches,
Sam
Thanks Sam! I like to think

hello Linda
It's nice to read about your witches. it seem that there are alot of witch or paranormal books out there these days, but most of them are dark, dangerous and a bit sinister. and so not my thing.
but your books sound wonderfully light, funny and very smart. I must go get one to read. i'm eally interested in the pervert gargoyle. thats a hoot.

Thanks Jodi!
I read the darker paranormal, but I can't write it. My crazy sense of humor gets in the way too much.
Horace is definitely an interesting character and very different from Fluff and Puff, Jazz's magick bunny slippers.
