Welcome Guest Blogger Kay Stockham!

The other day I was thinking about all the romances I've read and I began to make a mental list of favorites. I love Scarlett and Rhett but let’s face it, they were seriously flawed. LOL Dysfunctional much?

The hero and heroine in The Windflower comes to mind as being a wonderful romance. Very sweet, very sensual. For the time of its release, The Windflower was very edgy with its Captain Jack type of pirate.

Ain’t She Sweet? by Susan Elizabeth Phillips is another all-time favorite. Talk about a smart mouthed heroine who gets knocked low and picks herself up by her bootstraps.

34744593.jpg And let's not forget Dream A Little Dream, also a Susan Elizabeth Phillips book--OMG, I cried reading this book! Twice! LOL I cried when I read the last page and set the book down. But I picked it up a couple hours later, read the ending again--and cried AGAIN! If you haven't read it, do so at once!

Julie Garwood’s historicals are ALL favorites. Respect, honor. Those guys had it going on in spades.

Lori Foster's Say No To Joe and Jamie are also favorites for their alpha heroes and uniqueness. These are guys you want on your side.

So many books by Catherine Anderson. Too many to name. Love her western set contemporaries.

What about you? All this talk of romance… What are your favorite romances of ALL TIME?
Sam will choose a winner from those who post their faves and the winner receives their choice of Another Man's Baby or His Son's Teacher, books one and two in my Tulanes of Tennessee series.

So, tell me YOUR favorites, and check out excerpts and my new video trailer at my website!

Hey Kay

Happy to have you come by this Saturday. :) I loved His Son's Teacher -- it was such a great book! :)

I have been looking at the two "favorites" blogs this week, Elle Kennedy's and this one, and it hit me that everyone's favorites are usually single title romances by the "big" authors. I guess that makes sense in a way, those are the books we all read before we sell, and the one with the bigger stories, but as a category author, I wonder, do people have category romances that are favorites, too?

So I'm going to list a few of my category favorites, a few of my keepers, and the ones that have had a big influence on me one way or another:

The Ultimate Seduction Janelle Denison (Blaze)
Before I Melt Away Isabel Sharpe (Blaze)
Thirty Nights JoAnn Ross (Blaze)
Wanted Man Ellen Hartman (Supers)
Not Without Her Family Beth Andrews (Supers)
The Orchid Hunter Sandra K Moore (Silhouette Bombshell)

There are more, but these are just a few of the really memorable category romances that are on my favorites... I treasure them all for different reasons, most of them inspired me as a writer in some way, but they all reached out to me and a few have even been re-read several times.

Thanks for coming by!

Sam

Hmmm....favorite categories?

That could take a while! Lori Foster's Sawyer immediately comes to mind. Love that book, loved the Buckhorn Brothers series!

I have others in my Keepers stash but with them not front and center I have to say I'm drawing a blank. I'll have to go dig them out. I know there are two SSEs by Nora in there (some of my very first category reads ever!), another about four friends and a lady (title similar to that)... Oh, Inglath Cooper's books come to mind, too. John Riley's Girl and The Gift of Grace. Both were great books.

I'll keep thinking but those are front and center.

Thanks for letting me come play today!

Everlasting Love

Every so often I'll pick up a book from this line. I find I can't read too many of these in a row because they are so emotional. The two that first come to mind are The Marriage Bed by Judith Arnold and If I'd Never Known your Love by Georgia Bockoven. I really like that some of these books span year and years (some 60+.)It's like reading the story after the story, like what happens after the HEA

ohhh no fair

Pick a favorite?? That's like asking a mother to pick among her children! Scandalous!
Actually, I do love The Windflower, it's on my keeper shelf. But I also love Season In The Sun by Catherine Coulter. I read it often when I want a comfort read. But then there's Immortal Highlander or Dark Highlander by Karen Marie Moning. See? I can't possibly pick a fav. There's too many!

Kim

OOOOOH, Kim! I forgot about

OOOOOH, Kim! I forgot about those books by KMM! They're fabulous--and on my keeper shelf, too.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hello Kay!

Favorite books. So many favorites and for different reasons. Ashes in the Wind by Woodiwiss. All of LaVyrle Spencer's books. French Silk by Sandra Brown. Mimosa Grove by Dinah McCall. Wanted Man by Ellen Hartman(love the heroine in this one). The Midnight series(Hotter after Midnight and Midnight Sins)by my chapter mate, Cynthia Eden. I love finding new authors, because I can read their books while waiting on more from my favorites. I'm currently reading Fragile by Shiloh Walker. She's a new one for me. Such a wounded heroine in this one.

Favorite category books

A few come to mind instantly.
My very favorite of all time is A Cowboy's Secret by Anne McAllister. I've also loved every category (and single title, for that matter) by Leslie Kelly that I've ever read. Then there's been Virtually Perfect and a few other Blazes that I couldn't put down by that author, oh what IS her name? Oh, yeah, Samantha Hunter. :)
And I was out shopping today & grabbed my copy of Her Best Friend's Brother off the shelf today. Have a few things I need to get done before I start reading it but I know I won't be disappointed. Your books are always an emotional and compelling read for me, Kay.

Thank you!

Cheryl, thanks so much for picking up HER BEST FRIEND'S BROTHER! I hope you enjoy it.

LaVyrle Spencer's books are

LaVyrle Spencer's books are some of the first I started reading and what got me hooked on Contemporaries.
Also, I love Sandra Brown's books. Her Texas Trilogy books are some fine works.

Spencer hooked me, too

I fell in love with LaVyrle Spencer a long time ago. I think if Diana stops by and sees this comment, she'd agree that reading her first Spencer was a defining moment, too. Something about the way she writes is captivating.

Favorites

Hi Kay!! Sorry I'm late. Family was in town yesterday.

I think Strange Bedpersons by Jennifer Crusie was a category? I love that book like nobody's business. I also have a series by Nora about the McKades (Sheriff Devin...I love Sheriff Devin.) Hmm, my keeper shelf also includes a lot of old Signet Regencies, many by Mary Balogh. Then there's The Homecoming Baby a Superromance by Kathleen O'Brien. I love that one.

A new author on my keeper shelf is our very own Jeannie Watt. (And of course, Diana Holquist. We're critique partners so I get signed copies of hers. ;-) )

Your book looks great, Kay. You know I loved His Son's Teacher so I'm excited for another Tulane!

Favorites

I grew up reading LaVyrle Spencer and HQ historicals. Dinah McCall westerns have always been a favorite. What I really love though is to read the books by the authors I've met online. I love to see things they have talked about through conversation or issues they dealt with while writing the story;)

Winner!

Christa you are Kay's winner! Congrats! Drop me a note at samhunter@samanthahunter.com, and I'll send it on to her so that you two can work out your prize.

Thanks Kay -- you made it a fun weekend. :)
