So Long, Farewell...

Karen Foley's picture

I'm in Newport, RI for several days of team-building and bonding exercises with some of my colleages, and to also spend time discussing new initiatives and paths forward, so it seems fitting that my last blog would be during this time, from this gorgeous location. My room is on the back side of the Newport Harbor Hotel, with a sliding door that opens onto a grassy lawn and my own set of adirondack chairs. Beyond that is a private boardwalk and marina filled with luxury yachts, and I can hear the ships' bells and horns and smell the ocean and am in heaven.

First of all, if you are a recent winner of a blog gift from me, I haven't forgotten you! I have several boxes sitting on my dining room table ready to go out...I just need to remember to put them in my car with me when I leave for work, and then stop at the post office on my way home! So, thank you for your patience...they'll be going out this week (I promise).

Being part of the Cigars blog has been an amazing experience for me, and I can't thank Sam enough for inviting me to join this wonderful group, and for making those first dizzying months after making my first sale so much fun. But the other part of that was hearing from you, and getting to know so many of you through this blog site. I hope that we'll run into each other again, and often, on other sites!

As far as paths forward...aside from the Dressed to Thrill mini-series, my next book comes out in July 2010, as part of an anthology entitled BORN ON THE FOURTH OF JULY with Jill Shalvis and Rhonda Nelson. My story will be called (I hope...it hasn't been approved yet) Packing Heat about a Marine sniper who is hailed as a hero, but discovers that all he really wants is to be a regular guy. I'll also be working on two semi-related books, both involving military heroes, due out in 2011, as well as sending in several proposals for additional Blaze books. Beyond that? My day job keeps me pretty busy, but I may try to find a market for some of my historical books...and I promise you that the heat is just as intense in these stories as they are in my Blaze books!

To thank you all for your amazing support and friendship during these past 2+ years, I'd like to give away one complete set of the Dressed to Thrill mini-series to one random visitor, and I'll announce the winner at the end of the day on Monday, Sep 21st.

Sam said she was reminded of Carol Burnett and Bob Hope at the end of their shows, but I keep seeing the Von Trapp family in The Sound of Music as they sing their farewells to Austria...

So long, farewell, auf-wiedersehen, good-bye!
I leave and heave a sigh and say good-bye--Good Bye!

Many hugs!!

Adieu !

I'm sure thats probably spelled wrong, but oh well. I've loved getting to know all the regulars on Cigars, it has been a blast. and as much as i am going to miss the blog and talking to everyone here, i totally agree with the reasons for stopping the blog. Sometimes enough is enough and your work must come first. Or they're may be nothing to blog about right.
Karen, i'm glad i got to learn about your books, your family and your wonderful obsession for shoes. Keep up the writing, and i'll keep buying your work.
I wish you continued happiness, success as a writer and may all your shoe fantasies come true, and may they be on sale when you find them.

so long!

Thanks, Jody...I think I'm

I usually throw all the names together in a hat and have one of my kids pull a name...maybe I'll ask my boss to the honors, since he is here in Newport with me...and he and his wife are working on a romance novel together and hoping for publication!

Wow good for them !

I don't know if I could work on anything with my husband but he... if they enjoy it ;-)

Thank you, Maureen!

Hugs Back Atcha

I've really enjoyed Cigars, including guest spots. I'm going to re-post one, concerning Wilson, my pumpkin, at my blog. You're all so great and I feel like you're new friends. I live for the photos of Sam's bags and her posts elsewhere. Keeping up with the demands of a career, let alone a day job is super tough, but we've all enjoyed the time you gave us, one of the most enjoyable experiences in Blogdom.

This is so Sad

I hate to see the blog go because it is one of my favorites, but I can understand the writing comes first and Iknow for a fate that blogging takes up a lot of time. Just remember we have really enjoyed these past to years and you ladies will always be in our thoughts.

Thank you so much!

Thank you so much! Yes...you will definitely be seeing us around!

Hate to say Goodbye

Hi Karen,
Congrats on your upcoming release. I hate to the blog go to. This is one of the best blogs left. All my fave blogs have disappeared little by little. Good luck to ya!!!!!

Sad to see the blog come to an end . . .

but I'll hunt you down on Facebook. :)
Even though I didn't comment on a regular basis and mostly lurked, it's been a pleasure getting to know all of you and reading the posts. They have made me laugh, think and feel all kinds of other emotions and it always warmed my heart to make my daily stop here at the Cigars. I will continue to follow the talented writings of you all. Good luck in all your future endeavors.

Tugging my ear

and wishing the best to all of you. I really enjoyed lurking and commenting on the blogs. I wish this was one really good thing in my life that didn't have to come to an end. I have found some new favorite authors on this site and will continue to watch for their names on future books

And the Winner is...

KAELEE...Please send your mailing address to me at karenefoley@comcast.net, and I'll send you the Dressed to Thrill series! Thanks to everyone who stopped by!!

Grab a cup-a-chowda

We were in RI in August. They know how to do a good soup up there.

Thanks for the fun blogs and contests. See you in the blog-o-sphere. :-)

Thanks you so much.

My email is on the way. I'm going to enjoy reading the series. Now I will have to figure out how to read the additional short stories on twitter without actually joining it. I really appreciate this.

Twitter stories

Hey Kaelee -- you can read the Twitter stories at www.tweettweetlove.com -- there are also discussions at eHarlequin and Facebook (links on the Tweet Love website) -- where there will be giveaways and other fun. :)
