If $5000 dropped into your lap right now for a splurge, would you be most likely to buy

it was a close call for me

between furniture (I am such a furniture slut, but I also love new appliances...), and a trip, and I went with the trip because I want to travel more, and I have to remind myself there will be time for other stuff, like a new sofa later. Of course, I'd probably use it to pay off stuff in the kitchen, all things considered, but I was trying to think more along the lines of splurge! :) Of course, I've always wanted to walk into Tiffany's with about 5K in my pocket, as well -- we'll see if that fantasy ever happens. ;)

Shoes, a trip, furniture

If I had $5000 to splurge, I'd probably spend it on all of the above. A trip because I'm sorely in need of a vac that doesn't include visiting relatives ($1500); Some new furniture for our lounge. It doesn't have to be anything fancy ($3000); Shoes! I used to be a shoe slut but got away from it. Now I'm finding myself checking them out again but WOW when did they become so expensive ($500)?? ani

Bring on the Louboutins!!!

I'm a total shoe slut. My pressie to myself with each book sale is a pair of shoes. So if this is splurge money (bills are all caught up, etc) the first thing I'd buy is hot shoes. A pair of super hot, black pumps. So practical, so ever-usable. OMG I drool at the thought.

Then I'd buy pressies for the hubster and kiddies... of course.

Trip

It seems that the last couple of years, we have only traveled to visit family and I miss my Disneyland. Also, I think the kids, dh and I need some strong bonding/relaxation time. Also, if I could swing it, I would so redecorate my bedroom.....I still have my furniture I had as a kid living at home.... Debbie

A decent used car

If I suddenly had $5000 in my hands to do whatever I wanted to do with it, I'd purchase a decent used 4 wheeldrive car. With the past 2 bad winters, I realized that you really need to have something with 4 wheeldrive to navigate these steep mountain roads. I have a decent frontwheel drive minivan but, I'd really like to have a car that would be just for winter driving. Mads:)

furniture!

most of our furniture is ugly, stained pine that we bought when the kids were tiny, or were given. I'm dreaming about that Le Corbusier and the Van Der Rohe .... *sigh* Isn't it funny, aren't women supposed to be into fripperies, shoes, clothes, jewelry - but nobody's clicked them yet! Oh, now I could go for those Laboutin five-inch heels....

that is funny...

I still have my trip to Tiffanys fanntasy, but I don't know that I would choose that over some of the other options.

As for furniture, I am a Stickley, William Morris, Frank Lloyd Wright, Arts & Crafts person. It's a look we've tried to work into our own house (and of course there's a good bit of A&C in the area, as Stickley has it's home here).

Anything with heels is not for me -- I am more of a sandal or good hiking shoe kind of person... ;)

Awning

This might sound crazy, but a storm tore off the awning on our travel trailer last year and my husband wants one so bad. I would get him one first thing, if I could. Don't be impressed...it's a ten year old trailer (nice, but not new) and the awning is like $600. I would pay bills too, but I would want to do that for him.

that's so nice!

That's so sweet. I hope you guys can swing it one of these days...

laptop, shower enclosure

Hard decision. There are so many choices - trip, pay bills, update something on the house... I've been looking at laptops, but haven't been able to justify to myself the expense of buying one yet. No more justification would be required... Update my bathroom - it has a tiki-hut style mural printed on the shower walls that is from the 70's or so. It Needs to be replaced! Cindy
