It's that time of year...
When everyone seems busy and yet nobody seems to finish much of anything.
I'm finished with my holiday shopping -- but I keep finding "just one more thing" to add to the pile.
I'm not finished with any of my books, and I keep thinking of "just one more thing" to add to the growing plots.
I'm not finished with any of my housecleaning and I keep discovering "just one more thing" that needs to be dusted, mopped, vacuumed or washed!
For some, it's the time to toss your hands in the air and give up on finishing a lot of anything. For me, I have a big checklist in my head, taking up a lot of space, but each item I check off leaves me with such a sense of accomplishment, I can't mind having the list in the first place!
The year's ending, and when I look back on all I've accomplished, I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter that my house isn't clean, and everyone can use a few more presents, so it's okay my shopping list keeps growing. It's even all right that I haven't finished my books, because I still have plenty of time in the next year to do it.
I think it's time to take a deep breath, have a hot drink, and enjoy the season. So that's what I'm going to do!
And today's winner from me gets a TRIPLE FEATURE! That's right, Romeo and Juliet, Love Story and Falling in Love, three romantic films just right for spending the day on the couch under a warm blanket with cookies and hot chocolate by your side...The winner is: JANE! Wow, Megan--that's a cool
Wow, Megan--that's a cool giveaway. I agree, it's time to take a deep breath and relax. The one Christmas I enjoyed the most was the one when I was first married and we couldn't afford to give Christmas gifts. So I focused on the season. It was honestly cool.
Sounds like a plan!
Good idea, Megan! I'm trying to relax a bit, too, and not focus on everything that I think I "have" to do--cards, cookies, presents... ack! Just take a breath and remember why we're doing all of these things to begin with!
We all need to take time to
We all need to take time to renew our energy and what better time than the holidays.
Amazing
Thanks, Megan. I'm amazed that you've done all your holiday shopping already. I'm not even half done.
Whee!
Congrats, Jane!
And... I plan on sleeping and forgetting about all my checklists for 24 hours... on Sunday. Then it's back to all the tasks.

I just remind myself
that people weren't so obsessive about cleanliness until the electric light was invented.
So what if my dust bunnies should be dust elephants? Never did anyone any harm!

I've been finishing...
And so haven't been posting, much -- my sewing has been running away with me. I'm sewing about 1/2 of our xmas gifts, but it all got jammed into the last few weeks because that's when I got my new machine and patterns, and so I have been running a living room sweatshop. It's fun, but I have to keep it that way by not letting it turn into work, you know? So finishing a few projects today, taking a few days off, and then will finish the rest next week.
Writing is not even on my radar, LOL. Reading either, unless it's a sewing pattern.
Cleaning? What's that? I could probably sew something out of the dust bunnies and hairballs, LOL. But Mike, love him, has offered to clean house today while I sew and get ready for his b'day dinner tomorrow... :) He even argued with me when I objected, so who can beat that? :)
