Politics, Religion & Sex, oh my!

The big three. The topics your mother always tells you not to talk about with friends unless you don't plan to be friends anymore. Reason being, those three topics are the most divisive things we Americans have to talk about. Apparently, it's just asking for a fight.
When I was a kid, I just listened to Mom. People really did get into wars over these things. I used to wonder if there was something strange about me. I don't hate people because they don't agree with me. I can have a totally philosophical discussion about topics that are important to me, that I feel passionate about, but if I don't win, I don't often lose much sleep about it. Call me too laid back, but I've just never seen the point to bursting a blood vessel for an argument that has no clear resolution.

The Artichoke Heart.
